Radio Silence

26.8.13

Sorry for it being a tad quiet over here, I find myself without Internet - except now obviously, ahem. There's exactly twelve days left for me here in Strathmerton... I'll have a few pics to upload soon, you never know, maybe even a tale to go with them, if you're lucky! In the mean time, can you see the 'Roo in this pic?

So you've seen the succulents, time for some cacti - taken just before the sun disappeared for the day.

New Year

10.8.13

I'm jumping all over the shop, spontaneity, keepin' ya on ya toes! ...New Year! I went to Perth for a few days to stay with my also super awesome friends Jemima and Vikki, I really, really like Perth - it was hot. On the Eve itself the temperature stayed around 40°C into the early hours, it totally justified our asking the taxi man to take us home via the drive through at Macca's to get frozen Coke.
My babes.

Happenings

9.8.13

I've mentioned the reason for starting this blog before - now that I have more time to spare in the evenings and a wish to share snippets from the recent happenings of my short stint in Australia so far - time is flying!

I'm lucky enough to have an eight acre cactus garden at my disposal on site, so after a sunny Aussie Winter's day, I took some pics in the hothouse featuring South African succulents.

Byron

As part of my super awesome adventure in Queensland, my super awesome friend Kate took us over the border to Byron Bay, or 'Hippy Ville' in NSW - I stopped counting VW Camper vans as I found it was easier to count the non VW Camper vans, as in just your regular group o'wheels attached to a modern chassis.

After a delicious lunch and a brief walk around the shops, we drove over to the 'Most Easterly Point of the Australian Mainland' - I've had to seriously edit down the photos I took there, heaps were of the views, blue, blue, blue sea and sky, it was just incredible.

I am breaking radio silence. Ready for the next installment of super amazing sunny photographs?! Yeh, I know it's 'Summer' in the UK where I'd normally don a knit and hot brew and 'Winter' here in Australia where just this time last week I had a nice golden glow, (after the sunburn bit) this upside down thing is really confusing at times.

Anyway, back to the Gold Coast, well, to the Sunshine Coast, we drove up to Mooloolaba as part of our week of awesome adventures and stayed at a lush hotel/holiday accommodation where the pool was literally on our veranda gatestep and the sea just over the road, then onto the Australia Zoo! I got to feed a Kangaroo, an Elephant, hold the tail-end of an Aligator and pet the backside of a Koala, great!

Moving Up

29.7.13

Before I ventured down to Tasmania, I flew up to visit my amazing friend Kate on the Goldcoast - so, good. Kate had planned a week of awesome adventures - I fed Kangaroos at the Australia Zoo, need I say more? After meeting me from the airport, we stopped and took a little stroll along the beach to an incredible view of Goldcoast City, then we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon with her lovely family, heading to Brisbane the next day.

I don't like to sound like a broken record in these little ditties o'mine, but the only word that pops to mind in order to describe my short trip is, awesome. Here are a few from when I arrived and some from around Brissie.
